About PDF Editor

Fixing a typo in a PDF normally means going back to the source document you may no longer have. Editing the text in place changes the wording without converting the file to Word and back, which is what usually destroys the layout.

How to use it

  1. Open the PDF you need to change.
  2. Click into the text and make your edit.
  3. Save the updated PDF.

Worth knowing

PDFs store text as positioned runs, not flowing paragraphs, so replacing a short word with a long one can push a line out of alignment. Keep edits close to the original length where you can.

Common questions

Can I edit a scanned PDF?
Not as text. A scan is an image of a page, so there are no characters to edit until it has been through optical character recognition.
Will the fonts change?
If the original font is embedded it is reused. If it is not, a substitute is chosen and the spacing may shift slightly.
