Worth knowing

Send the password by a different route than the file itself; both in the same email defeats the purpose. There is also no recovery — lose the password and the document is genuinely inaccessible.

Common questions

How strong is the protection?
It stops casual access and is only ever as strong as the password you choose. Short or guessable passwords offer very little.
Can I remove it later?
Only if you know the password. Keep your unprotected original safe.
