About Character Counter
Social posts have hard character limits, and going over means an edit or a truncation you did not choose. Counting as you draft keeps a post publishable without pasting it into the platform to find out.
How to use it
- Type or paste your draft post.
- Watch the character count.
- Trim until you are inside the limit.
Worth knowing
Platforms count some things unusually: links are often counted at a fixed length whatever their real size, and emoji can consume more than one character. Leave a little headroom.
Common questions
- Why does the platform disagree with my count?
- Link shortening and emoji handling, almost always. Both are counted by platform-specific rules.
- Does a thread change the limit?
- Each post in a thread carries its own limit rather than sharing one.
