About Extract Audio
Pulling the soundtrack out of a video gives you an audio file you can listen to, edit or transcribe without carrying the picture around. Useful for lectures, interviews, podcasts recorded on camera and music captured at an event.
How to use it
- Choose the video you want the audio from.
- Start the extraction and wait for it to finish.
- Download the resulting audio file.
Worth knowing
Extraction copies the sound that is already in the file, so it cannot be better than the original recording. A noisy room stays noisy — clean the audio afterwards if you need to.
Common questions
- Does this reduce quality?
- Not by design. The aim is to take the existing audio stream out intact rather than re-record it.
- Can I extract from a long recording?
- Yes, though larger files take longer and use more memory on the device doing the work.
