About Reverse Video
Reversing plays a clip from its last frame to its first. It is mostly used for effect — a pour running backwards, a jump that lands upward — and occasionally to find the exact moment something entered the frame.
How to use it
- Load the video you want to reverse.
- Run the reversal.
- Download the reversed clip.
Worth knowing
Reversal has to hold frames in order to write them back to front, so short clips process much faster than long ones. Trim first if you only need a few seconds.
Common questions
- Is the audio reversed too?
- Speech played backwards is unintelligible, which is why reversed clips are usually paired with music or left silent.
- Does the quality change?
- The frames are the same ones; the file is re-encoded to store them in the new order.
