About Change Speed
Changing playback speed compresses or stretches time: speed up a slow demonstration so it holds attention, or slow a fast movement down enough to see what happened. The picture is unchanged, only its timing.
How to use it
- Select the video file you want to retime.
- Pick a speed — above 1x to shorten, below 1x to stretch.
- Apply the change and download the result.
Worth knowing
Speeding a clip up drops the running time proportionally: a four-minute video at 2x becomes two minutes. Slowing footage down cannot invent frames that were never captured, so heavy slow-motion can look stepped.
Common questions
- What happens to the audio?
- It follows the picture. Faster playback raises the pitch of speech noticeably beyond about 1.5x.
- Which speed should I use?
- For talking-head footage, 1.25x to 1.5x tightens pacing without making the voice sound odd.
